Letter from the General Editor [1] This issue marks the second anniversary of Hugoye, as well as its first volume in the new millenium (although calendarists would correctly argue that the new millenium would not dawn upon us until Hugoye's fourth volume appears in January 2001). [2] The current issue presents papers delivered at Syriac Symposium III, held at the University of Notre Dame in June 1999. I would like to thank the committee of the Symposium III and the Symposium III Chair, Dr. Joseph Amar, for encouraging presenters to submit their papers for consideration in Hugoye. Other papers from Syriac Symposium III are already under review for publication in future issues. [3] With this issue, the Hugoye editorial team brings you a new feature: a search engine that allows readers to search for any phrase in the entire Hugoye collection. This feature was configured with the help of The Catholic University of America Web Master, Benjamin Smedberg, whose assistance is gratefully acknowledged. Additionally, we publish with this issue an expanded set of submissions guidelines, compiled by Dr. Tawny Holm. Henceforth, all submissions are required to conform to the submissions guidelines.
