Guria, Mar

b. 3 c., d. 309 ?

One of the Confessors martyred at {Edessa} no later than 309, prob. in the post-{Diocletian} persecutions. An aged man from the village of Sargi, he was beheaded with his younger companion {Shmona} on a hill N of Edessa. Feast day, 15 Oct.

Monastery. A monastery SW of {Seert}, rebuilt after being destroyed in 1818.
